The Merchant Division represents the ERP business unit (e.g. company code) and is used in determining the appropriate B2B Gateway Payment Configuration (a.k.a. XIID) to which the invoice payment transaction should be routed. Merchants must have at least one Merchant Division.

Recommended review

We recommend that you review the top-level BillPay topic if you are new to BillPay configuration. It provides key terms and an understanding of the overall configuration process for the solution as well as what tasks are performed in Merchant Portal vs. BillPay Portal.

Prerequisites and considerations

You must have completed the Currencies and Payment Types (Card Types and/or eCheck must be selected) on the BillPay: Configuration page, Payments tab.

You must have Payment Configurations created with both QA and Production selected on the Configuration page, Configuration tab.

oNote: You cannot select a Payment Configuration that you have configured to be QA only; it will not display in the dropdown when creating your Merchant Division.

Determine the Merchant Divisions you require based on the following considerations:

oPayment routing to the appropriate B2B Gateway Payment Configuration (a.k.a. XIID) is determined by the Merchant Division + Currency + Payment Type.

oTypical best practice is to create a Merchant Division for each business unit (a.k.a. company code).

oFor a given Currency, you will associate the Payment Type(s) to a given XIID.

oIf all or multiple supported Payment Types for a given Currency go to the same XIID, you can perform a multi-select from the Payment Type dropdown.

oIf you process different Payment Types through different XIIDs, you would create a separate route under the appropriate Currency using the "add route" option.

How to add a Merchant division

1.Navigate to Settings | BillPay | Merchant Division menu path.

2.Click add.

a.If the add option is not active, mouseover it for a message that will indicate what is missing (either Currencies or Payment Types on the BillPay: Configuration page, Payments tab).

3.In the Name field, enter a user-friendly name that represents the business unit; no spaces allowed.

4.In the Merchant Ref field, enter the equivalent of the ERPs business unit or company code; no spaces allowed.
